Competences for graduate studies in Audiovisual Communication

Generic Competences

  • To comprehend and express oneself correctly, orally and in writing and to be capable of adapting the message to different audiences using the official languages and at least one foreign language.
  • To dominate the means of iconographic, information technology and graphic expression.
  • To use Information and Communication Technologies in his/her professional development.
  • To observe, analyse and process relevant information to issue judgments based on scientific criteria.
  • To identify problems and possible solutions and make efficient decisions.
  • To design and manage innovating and creative projects from an ethical point of view.
  • To put into practice acquired knowledge
  • To work in a team.
  • To know how to find the interpretative key factors in any natural, social, economic, historic and political phenomenon.
  • To be familiar with and respect diversity and multiculturalism.
  • To act coherently according to the humanist Christian principles.

Specific Competences

  • To express oneself fluently and efficiently in the official languages of the Balearic Islands, orally and in writing and take advantage of the most appropriate linguistic and literary resources for each communication medium.
  • To express oneself, orally and in writing, in a foreign language.
  • To be familiar with and use the technological systems and resources and their interactive applications with communicative efficiency.
  • To be familiar with the state of contemporary audiovisual production and its recent historical evolution and understand its different parameters: political, economic, cultural, aesthetic and religious.
  • To be familiar with the structures and politics of audiovisual communication.
  • To develop the analytical ability to understand and analyse the different audiovisuals and their formats.
  • To be familiar with the audiovisual market and manage and promote the audiovisual contents in different supports.
  • To know, understand and critically analyse the relationship between the audiovisual products and the diverse socio-cultural factors which intervene in its reception and consumption.
  • To know the processes of ideation, audiovisual narrative and the production of audiovisual scripts.
  • To manage the expressive and technological processes involved in the direction, production and postproduction of diverse audiovisual products.
  • To value audiovisual works form an aesthetic point of view.
  • To reflect critically on the influence of mass media on education and on the relationship of the media with schools and to be familiar with the educational potentials of the Information and Communication Technologies.
  • To be familiar with the social, cultural and political reality of mass media in the autonomous community and its interrelation with the Spanish, European and world context.
