- To express oneself fluently and efficiently in the official languages of the Balearic Islands, orally and in writing and to take advantage of the most appropriate linguistic and literary resources for each communication medium.

- To be familiar with and use the technological systems and resources and their interactive applications with communicative efficiency.
- To be familiar with the state of the world and its recent historical evolution to understand its different parameters: political, economic, cultural and religious.
- To be familiar with the structure of mass media and its main formats and analyse its relationship with different contemporary styles of life.
- To be familiar with journalism ethics and deontology as well as its legal legislations related to the management of information in the professional practice as well as the limitations of freedom of speech.
- To critically use the different languages, genres and news formats, as well as the technological supports, analogical and digital.
- To be familiar with the structure, operation and ways of managing communication businesses.
- To know the main theoretical trends which formalise and criticise, from a conceptual and methodological point of view, the informative and communicative processes.
