Since the opening of the first Normal School of Education (Escuela Normal de Maestras) of the Balearic Islands under the direction of Alberta Giménez in 1872, the Sisters of Pureza de María have not ceased to contribute to Majorcan society with a superior quality education characterized by dedication to the person, the adaptation to the demands of each time, the search for academic excellence and the commitment to the creation and dissemination of knowledge.
In 1973, only 8 diocesan Schools of Education throughout the Spanish territory were able to comply with the Ministerial Order that required their transformation into University Schools. Among them, the Alberta Giménez University School that was then affiliated with the University of Barcelona. In 1978, with the birth of the University of the Balearic Islands, it was modified the ascription of the center to the Balearic University. Now, in 2014, we go one step further by affiliating with Comillas Pontifical University, Catholic University governed by the Society of Jesus, whose vocation of excellence and to the service of the Church we fully share.
There are six undergraduate degrees we offer to the society: Sport Science, Early Childhood Education, Primary Education, Journalism, Media Studies and Advertising and Public Relations; plus two dual degrees: Journalism + Audiovisual Communication and Early Childhood Education + Primary Education. Each year we update the postgraduate studies, and our experience in the training of religion teachers is very long, with the DECA title given by the Spanish Episcopal Conference. Also, every year we offer a wide range of specialization in Education and Communication. In addition, we form several promotions of monitors with our Camp Leadership Diploma.
